Colombian Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadier) won the 104th Giro d’Italia. Seven years after the success of Nairo Quintana, another Colombian takes home the pink jersey, the third in the last eight editions for Latin America, if we also consider the triumph of Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz in 2019. With a splendid proof of perseverance the Italian Damiano Caruso (Bahrain Victorious) took the place of honour 1’29” behind the winner.

The British Simon Yates (BikeExchange) finished in third place with a delay of 4’15 “ahead of the young Russian Alexander Vlasov (Astana-PremierTech) at 6’40” with fifth place at 7’24 “, in equal hours, minutes and seconds, Daniel Martinez (Ineos Grenadier), Bernal’s faithful squire, over the Portuguese Joao Almeida (Deceuninck-QuickStep).
