The 2025 cycling world championships should see the first historic world championship in Africa. As reported by L’Equipe, UCI president David Lappartient confirmed that only two countries have submitted their candidacies for the 2025 trial: after Rwanda, which delivered its dossier two weeks ago, also Morocco wants to have the possibility of being the host state. “I have already met the Rwandan authorities, the federation and the ministry of sport,” said Lappartient: “I will soon receive a delegation from Morocco. These are two great quality candidates ”.
After the deadline for submitting their proposal, Africa should therefore see its first cycling world championship. So far it is the only continent that has never hosted a world championship.
